The Acura TLX has long been an incredible performance luxury sedan. Now Acura has given it a brand new look, added more innovative tech features for 2019 and made a great automobile even better. The 2019 Acura TLX comes in three new models with fantastic new engine options, is sleeker, more aerodynamic and features an array of upgraded standard equipment.

One new 2019 Acura TLX model has a 206 horsepower 2.4-liter, Inline-4 engine paired with an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. Together they help the vehicle average 23 mpg in city driving and 33 mpg on the highway. It boasts a torque converter as well as Precision All-Wheel Steer. When the front-wheel drive system is installed, the P-AWS system enhances control and stability when braking, turning and changing lanes by independently adjusting the toe angles of the rear wheels.

The vehicle has resculpted aerodynamic front and rear bumpers, redesigned Jewel Eye LED headlights with auto on/off as well as auto high-beam all standard equipment. Inside, there’s Dark Burl/Acoustic wood and technological features like a dual-screen user interface, full-color driver’s meter, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, and AcuraWatch driver-assistive technologies all standard. The Technology Package adds Navigation along with an HD Radio featuring Digital Traffic.

Another of the new Acura TLX models is powered by a 290 horsepower, 3.5-liter V6 engine. It’s mated with a smooth-shifting nine-speed automatic transmission which has paddle shifters and P-AWS and produces 267 pound-feet of torque. In city driving it gets 20 mpg and 32 mpg on the highway. A third TLX model features the 3.5-liter V6 engine and the 9-speed automatic transmission, but with the Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive system and delivers 290 horsepower. The SH-AWD system uses sensors to distribute drive power from the front to the back and from one side of the rear axle to the other. To see how one feels in real life, check one out at Chapman Acura. The 2018 Acura MDX is a compelling alternative to the luxury European SUVs. The MDX is no ordinary three-row crossover. Its a high-tech, super-handling vehicle with lots of useful capacity. The vehicle even has an available hybrid powertrain based on the system in Acura’s NSX supercar that offers excellent performance and drivability. The standard version of the 2018 Acura MDX comes with a 3.5-liter, V-6, 290 horsepower engine, with optional torque-vectoring all-wheel drive. Plus, it has a wealth of standard features that make it one of its class’ most compelling options.

One of the things that sets the 2018 Acura MDX apart is all the standard active-safety technology it has. They include multiple-spot child-seat installation, automated emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control and backup camera. Opt for the Technology package and you add blind-spot monitoring featuring rear cross-traffic alert. Customers that choose the optional Advance package get parking sensors in the front and rear. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the 2019 Acura MDX a five-star rating and the IIHS named it a Top Safety Pick.

What’s inside the 2018 Acura MDX is another reason to love this SUV. Aside from comfortable seats and enough head and legroom for tall occupants, the MDX offers an array of excellent standard features. They include a front sunroof, a tilting and telescoping steering wheel with a power adjustable steering column, a memory driver’s seat and heated leather power driver and front passenger seats. There’s also a new push-button electronic shifter located on the center console. Some of the options include heated steering wheel and rear seats, cooled front seats and a rear seat entertainment system. To see it all in action, come down to Chapman Acura. The technology inside the 2018 MDX has also been upgraded. The infotainment system now offers Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and navigation as standard equipment. It also comes with the Acura Link, a dual-screen display touchscreen interface, countless power points as well as an available wide-screen entertainment system. Add the optional Entertainment package and you get five USB ports, 12-volt and auxiliary inputs, a 110-volt power outlet, along with ports for connecting media players to the rear-seat wide-screen video display. Plus, you can show two different videos on the screen simultaneously.

The new pentagonal diamond-pattern air intake, prominent LED headlights, tastefully-creased sheetmetal styling, new exhaust outlets and the availability of two new exterior colors, San Marino Red and Basque Red Pearl II, on the 2018 Acura MDX might grab your attention. But its the excellent performance and handling that will keep you enthralled. Even if you don’t choose the fast, powerful, super-efficient MDX Sport Hybrid with the Technology package as standard equipment, the gasoline-powered MDX featuring the optional Super Handling All-Wheel Drive system, is sure to please.

The powertrain of the 2018 Acura MDX with its strong 290-hp V-6 engine and smooth nine-speed automatic transmission makes this 7-seater fast. But it’s the Acura all-wheel-drive system that puts the MDX among it’s class’ best-handling vehicles. Plus, Acura’s optional supercar-derived hybrid powertrain makes this three-row crossover athletic and impressive.
