The 2018 Acura TLX is a bargain when it comes to entry-level luxury sedans. The company has restyled its top-selling car, revived the A-Spec name and added more value to this new performance model. The five-passenger 2018 TLX has a starting MSRP suggested retail price of $33,950 including destination charge. Plus it’s the first entry luxury sedan with a comprehensive standard package that includes safety and collision mitigation elements like lane-keeping assist and smart-follow cruise control. It also has automatic braking to prevent rear-end collision.

Many of the 2018 TLXs standard features were optional on the top 2017 TLX models. Plus the NHTSA says the 2018 TLX got five-star ratings for occupant protection in the front and side crash tests. The front of the 2018 TLX has new styling that makes it look more modern and upscale. Acura has also added a new hood and fenders to the TLX as well. To check out a 2018 Acura TLX, head down to Chapman Acura and take on for a test drive.

The standard luxury equipment on the new TLX includes leather-covered or leather-look heated, power-adjustable front seats, a moonroof, a seven-speaker premium audio system as well as a faster, more intuitive 7-inch dashboard display screen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility are also standard. And the rearview camera still has moving guidelines which show the driver the direction of the car as it backs up. The backseat of the 2018 TLX has 34.5 inches of legroom and has separate fold down rear seatbacks which add to the cargo space in the 14.3 cubic-foot trunk.

The A-Spec is Acura’s top 2018 TLX. It features a performance-tuned suspension and wider and grippier tires and looks more aggressive than all the other TLX models.
The A-Spec comes with either front or all-wheel drive, dark gray 19-wheels and a black grille and has a starting MSRP of $43,750. The A-Spec has a firmer ride, quicker steering response and less body roll than other TLX models. It has the well-controlled feel of an imported European entry-level luxury car with sizable seat bolsters and strip of Alcantara material located in the middle of the front seats.

The revised electric power steering needs only a slight touch to adjust its direction. The suspension now has firmer dampers as well as a larger rear anti-roll bar. That helps keep the body of the car tightly in check while you enjoy a spirited ride. Its stiffer sidewall tires yields a little and helps to keep the occupants comfortable even if the TLX hits a pothole.

The base engine of the TLX is still the 206-horsepower, 2.4-liter, direct injection four-cylinder with double overhead cams. It has more horsepower than the Audi A4s base four cylinder engine. Plus the TLX combines this powerplant with a great eight-speed, dual-clutch transmission which offers one more forward gear available than the base A4.

The engine on the A-Spec is a 290-horsepower, 3.5-liter, direct-injection V6 with single overhead cams. The powerplant generates about 267 foot-pounds of torque. Plus it’s mated with a smooth-shifting, adaptable nine-speed automatic transmission. The 2018 TLX averages about 23 mpg.
