The 2016 Acura MDX has a few changes from last year’s model. Drivers can now change their gears by using a series of push-buttons. However, the reverse gear is selected by using a separate control.

What’s Different?

Customers can choose between a front-wheel drive Acura MDX or a super handling all-wheel drive MDX. The front-wheel drive version will get an average of one mile per gallon more than the all-wheel drive. These statistics will vary depending on driving conditions though. Drivers will be able to customize their own Acura MDX by using the website’s custom builder. If you want to customize your own, head to Chapman Acura.

Different Packages

The new MDX has a variety of packages supported by Acura. One of these is named Acurawatch. This is the package inspired by road safety professionals. The collision mitigation braking system, featured in this package, has a safety alarm that alerts the driver if they get too close to the yellow line while they are driving 45-90 mph. An audible beep is sounded off, and a visual warning on the dash shows up when this happens. The steering wheel will slightly begin to move the car towards the right lane. Drivers can customize this feature if they don’t want it on all the time. They can also bypass it by correctly using their turn signal before they begin to merge between lanes.

There are several other packages that can be combined with each other to find the perfect package for every driver. The technology package is equipped with a navigation system, an HD radio, and a blind-spot information system. For those drivers who have children in the backseat, the entertainment package will give them a high-definition 16.2” video screen. The seats can be upgraded with an advanced package.

The Super Handling All-wheel Drive

This year’s all-wheel drive Acura MDX comes with a super handling technology behind it. This next-generation system is 19 pounds lighter than previous systems. It has a torque vectoring response ability that makes turning much easier. The torque vectoring has a yaw movement that works by changing the wheel’s speed. This gives the driver a lot more control when they need responsive handling. It’s particularly helpful in rainy weather.

Exterior Accessories

The 2015 Acura MDX can be further customized with some exciting exterior accessories. One of these is an engine block heater. This is a great feature for people who live in a cold climate. This solid-brass heater allows the driver to warm up inside the car faster than ever before. MDX owners might want to pair this heater with a remote engine start system. This year’s model is the III version, and it can start the car from approximately 328 feet away.

The 2016 model of Acura’s MDX vehicle has something for every type of driver. The roof can be upgraded with a surfboard or kayak attachment for the adventure seekers. The wood grain steering wheel upgrade is a nice fit for those who enjoy more class. If you want to see for yourself, head to Acura in Tucson where you can get a feel for this great vehicle.
