Acura’s current slogan is ‘Advance’ and with the new 2013 ILX and RDX, that’s exactly what Acura has done. Both models got upgraded technology features that have allowed them to advance right past the competition.

Inside the Acura ILX and RDX consumers will find a 5-inch, full-color, center display screen, which is standard on models even without the Technology Package. This screen not only displays navigation but also uses Bluetooth HandsFreeLink system, Pandora Interface, audio display information, SMS text messaging functions, and even displays the rear camera image.

The Pandora Internet Radio Interface allows consumers to take the digital iPhone app with them in the car. Pandora is a service that introduces users to new music by finding songs similar to ones they have chosen. It collects hundreds of music details and scans the entire world of music to find songs with similarities. The app can be played through either Bluetooth Audio or by plugging the phone directly into a USB jack. The center screen will display track titles, artists, and even album art.

The Acura RDX and ILX also both come with a Short Message Service, a test messaging function, which lets drivers, respond to incoming text messages hands-free. When an SMS-compatible phone is paired and activated with the new technology, the system will notify the driver of an incoming text message. The system will also read the text message aloud and display it on the center screen. After the message is read aloud, six pre-prepared responses can be sent back to the person who sent the text. These messages include:  Talk to you later I’m driving, I’m on my way, I’m running late, OK, Yes, No. There is also an option to call the person who sent the text. The system is compatible with Blackberry phones with the MAP protocol, other models are expected to be available soon. This feature has allowed Acura consumers to drive more safely and reduce the temptation to text and drive.

The ILX also features a state of the art Keyless Access System with Smart Entry and pushbutton ignition. This allows drivers to walk up to the ILX, unlock the doors, and start the engine without ever having to take the key out of your pocket. The vehicle will actually sense that the key is near and as soon as the door handle is touched, it will unlock the door. The engine and auxiliary controls can be turned on and off with the touch of a button. The key fob can also lower the windows and open the sunroof before entering the ILX.
